Smithsonian Science How Live Webcasts will be broadcast at both the Ameal Moore Nature Center from 11-11:30am.  Join us as we tune in to watch archaeologist Torben Rick as he discusses years of human influence on the West and East Coast.  For more information on the webcast, click HERE.

Join us this month for Second Saturdays as we focus on native plants!  This free family-friendly event will include nature-based crafts, activities, and hikes into the park!

Bacteria & You
November 12, 2014 | 1-3 pm| Ameal Moore Nature Center

Our next Bacteria & You day is Wednesday November 12, from 1-3pm.  Join us and our special guest scientist Alicia Taylor as she discusses bacteria, its function, and its impact on us.  Join us in swabbing various surfaces in the park and take home your own petri dish to grow bacteria at home!

The Bacteria and You 3 hour program will be held on Saturday October 4, 2014 at the Ameal Moore Nature Center from 1-4pm.  Join us and our special guest Alicia Taylor as we discuss and swab for bacteria in the park!

Second Grand Opening
October 8, 2014 | 9-5 pm | Ameal Moore Nature Center

The Second Grand Opening for New Extended Weekly Hours will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Ameal Moore Nature Center.  Join us as we provide free family activities and host our first live showing of the Smithsonian science webcasts.

Mass Extinction: Solving the Dinosaur Mystery
October 8, 2014 | 11am-12:30pm | Ameal Moore Nature Center

Smithonian Science How Live Webcasts will be broadcast at both the Ameal Moore Nature Center and the Riverside Metropolitan Museum at 11-11:30am.  Join us as we tune in to watch Paleontologist and Museum Director Kirk Johnson as he talks about dinosaurs in “Mass Extinction: Solving the Dinosaur Mystery.”  Join us in the nature center for fun family activities or at the museum to view the museum’s Allosaurus skull on display for this event!  For more information on the webcast, click HERE.

Arthropods

October 11, 2014 | 11 am-2 pm | Ameal Moore Nature Center

Second Saturdays will officially be starting in October!  Our first event will be on Arthropods (insects and spiders) on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Ameal Moore Nature Center from 11am-2pm.  Join us for a free family friendly event full of live arthropods, crafts, and activities!

California Conservation Corps (CCC) Volunteer Day
October 18, 2014 | 8 am-12 pm| Ameal Moore Nature Center

You are cordially invited to volunteer with the California Conservation Corps (CCC) in partnership with the City of Riverside Parks Dept.  Volunteers will be planting 100 native plants, doing minor trail work, participating in invasive species eradication, and litter pick up.  All tasks will encompass an environmental teachable moment!  What to bring: gardening gloves, a shade hat, water, sun screen, etc.

JUNE 2014:

Grand Opening & Dedication Ceremony
June 14, 2014 | 9 am | Ameal Moore Nature Center

The Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 9:00 am. Join the City of Riverside for a special dedication ceremony for the Ameal Moore Nature Center in honor of late three-term Riverside City Council member Ameal Moore.
